passion doesn't pay rent. competence and fair compensation does.
'we're like a family here' is always in the job listing where the salary is worst
the job listing that says 'unlimited growth potential' but no salary band
my manager approved my time off. then scheduled a mandatory all-hands over it.
'unlimited PTO' where nobody takes any because nobody dares to be first
my job description has changed completely since I was hired. my salary has not.
we just had a meeting to align on the agenda for next week's meeting
'looking for someone who goes above and beyond' = we have one person doing three jobs
