there's a website that tracks this. I'm not going to name it because then I'll spend all day on it.
shrinkflation is so much worse than a price increase because it's designed not to be noticed
chocolate bars especially. they shrank them, raised the price, then sold 'king size' versions of the original size.
the worst is when they slightly change the packaging so you can't compare directly
paying a 'convenience fee' to pay online for something that has no offline payment option
streaming services raise prices every 6 months and have fewer shows worth watching each time
rent goes up every year. employer says 'budget is tight this year.' the maths isn't mathing.
grocery prices up 40%. portion sizes quietly down 20%. neither is apparently inflation.
I've started checking unit price religiously. not weight, not package size. price per 100g. every time.
